Children

Sunday School - Sept-May                       

Sunday School for ages 3 through 6th grade is held on Sundays after worship service from 10:00-11:00.

Vacation Bible School - June 5-8, 2023                       

We’re going to experiment with a new format for VBS this year. It will be a “Wells Area” VBS including children and leaders from Wells Assembly of God, Good Shepherd Lutheran, Covenant Life, and Open Doors UMC. We’re excited about how fun it can be for our kids, the huge outreach this can have in our town and about working together!  

So mark these dates on your calendar:  June 5-8, 2023.

The fun starts at 9:30 a.m. and will end at 11:00 a.m. It will be held at Thompson Park, down the street from our church. Open Doors UMC will be the rain location.

All children age 3 (potty trained) through grade 5 are invited. The cost is free.

Pioneer Clubs® - (We currently are taking
a break from offering Pioneer Clubs.)

We offer the Pioneer Clubs program for all kids in grades 1-6, which meet Wednesdays after school, 3:15-5:00 pm, September thru May.

Pioneer Club is a weekly Christ-centered program that helps children grow as whole persons and learn to make Christ the Lord in every aspect of their life. Club members take part and earn badges in the areas of Arts & Communications; Myself, My Family & Others; Hobbies & Projects; Outdoors & Nature; and Sports & Games. In Bible Explorations, children learn about God's love, Christian values, and how to apply the Bible to everyday life. The material is non-denominational.

USC town buses make a stop at Open Doors UMC for children's convenience and safety. For more information about what Pioneer Clubs is and how it helps children grow as whole person, click here.

Youth

We are currently in search of a Youth Leader. If you are interested and want to know more, click here. 

Youth Group

We are about building relationships, making disciples, and sharing our faith in Christ! If you like to have fun with friends, we're the group for you!

Junior and Senior High youth meet on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm during the school year at USC school auditorium. Their youth group is called The WAY. This is a Christian community-wide group led by adults and youth from Wells area churches. We extend our gatherings throughout the summer with fun excursions and mission-oriented activities.

Mission Trips  

There is a youth/adult mission trip planned every summer. In July, 2018, a group of 14 went to Chetek, WI, for the second year in a row to do community service and help individuals with fix-up projects. Other trips have been to Duluth, Des Moines, Sioux Falls, Memphis, Colorado Springs, and every three years a trip to Jamaica. 

The next Jamaica trip is planned for December 26, 2023 through January 5, 2024.
