Children and Youth

Service, Faith, and FUN!  Our children and youth ministries strive to bring our mission and faith alive for our young people.  We also love to get together JUST FOR FUN!

Children's Ministry Matters! Read 68 reasons why.

Vacation Bible School - June 4-7, 2018

All children age 3 (and potty-trained) through grade 5 are invited to join us for “Shipwrecked” VBS on June 4-7, 2018!

Venture onto an uncharted island where kids survive and thrive. Anchor in the truth that Jesus carries them through life’s storms. Kids will be in crews of 5-6 and travel from station to station, each reinforcing the daily Bible Point in a hands-on, interactive way that keeps everyone engaged.  They'll have fun and learn at  Castaway Sing & Play, Bible Discovery, Imagination Station, Ship Rec Games, Tropical Treats, and KidVid Cinema.

The times will be 9:00-11:30 am, Monday through Thursday, and cost is $5.00 per child. Scholarships are available by request.

Pioneer Clubs®

We offer the Pioneer Clubs program for all kids in grades 1-6, which meet Wednesdays after school, 3:15-5:00 pm, September thru May.

Pioneer Club is a weekly Christ-centered program that helps children grow as whole persons and learn to make Christ the Lord in every aspect of their life. Club members take part and earn badges in the areas of Arts & Communications; Myself, My Family & Others; Hobbies & Projects; Outdoors & Nature; and Sports & Games. In Bible Explorations, children learn about God's love, Christian values, and how to apply the Bible to everyday life. The material is non-denominational.

USC bus #302 makes a stop at Open Doors UMC for children's convenience and safety. For more information about what Pioneer Clubs is and how it helps children grow as whole person, click here. Registrations are being accepted now for the 2018/2019 year.

Mission Kids

Mission Kids is for everyone in 1st through 12th grade. We meet usually on the second Thursday of the month after school from 3:15-5:00. We do a variety of hands-on mission activities such as: bake cookies for shut-ins, sew bibs or gifts for Operation Christmas Child, do random acts of kindness, and much more.

Youth Group

We are about building relationships, making disciples, and sharing our faith in Christ! If you like to have fun with friends, we're the group for you!

Junior and Senior High youth meet on Wednesdays at 6:15 pm during the school year. We extend our gatherings throughout the summer with fun excursions and mission-oriented activities.

Mission Trips

There is a youth/adult mission trip planned every summer. In July, 2018, a group of 14 went to Chetek, WI, for the second year in a row to do community service and help individuals with fix-up projects. Other trips have been to Duluth, Des Moines, Sioux Falls, Memphis, Colorado Springs, and every three years a trip to Jamaica.

Mission trips are a wonderful experience!  If you have any questions, contact Sandy at
