Service, Faith, and FUN! Our children and youth ministries strive to bring our mission and faith alive for our young people. We also love to get together JUST FOR FUN!
At Rocky Railway VBS, kids discover Jesus’ power can pull them through life’s ups and downs. Rocky Railway is filled with incredible Bible-learning experiences kids see, hear, touch, and even taste! Sciency-Fun Gizmos™, team-building games, cool Bible songs, and tasty treats are just a few of the standout activities that help faith flow into real life. Plus, we’ll help kids discover how to see evidence of God in everyday life—something we call God Sightings®. Get ready to hear that phrase a lot!
Your kids will also participate in a hands-on mission project, through a program called Operation Kid-to-Kid™, that will provide alpacas to families in need in Ecuador, South America.
A highlight on Wednesday will be a field trip to ruby Ranch near Pemberton, MN, where we will get to see live alpacas and other animals, have lunch and explore the ranch. the field trip will be an extra $5 per person. Scholarships are available if needed.
So mark these dates on your calendar: June 7-11, 2021.
The fun starts at 9:00 a.m. and will end at 11:30 a.m. , except on Wednesday when we will return to Wells by 12:15.
Rocky Railway will be held, for the most part, outside at Thompson Park this year with Covid safety precautions practiced. If we have to cancel or make last minute site adjustments because of weather, we will make that decision by 7:00 am and make an announcement on Facebook and the church website.
All children age 3 (potty trained) through grade 5 are invited. The cost will be $5 per student. Scholarships are available if requested.
Please send with each child, a beach towel to sit on, a water bottle with their name on and dress kids in appropriate clothing for the weather; optional daily offering for alpacas for Ecuador, registration forms and fees if not turned in yet.
We offer the Pioneer Clubs program for all kids in grades 1-6, which meet Wednesdays after school, 3:15-5:00 pm, September thru May.
Pioneer Club is a weekly Christ-centered program that helps children grow as whole persons and learn to make Christ the Lord in every aspect of their life. Club members take part and earn badges in the areas of Arts & Communications; Myself, My Family & Others; Hobbies & Projects; Outdoors & Nature; and Sports & Games. In Bible Explorations, children learn about God's love, Christian values, and how to apply the Bible to everyday life. The material is non-denominational.
USC town buses make a stop at Open Doors UMC for children's convenience and safety. For more information about what Pioneer Clubs is and how it helps children grow as whole person, click here. Registrations are being accepted now for the 2019/2020 year.
Mission Kids is for everyone in 1st through 12th grade. We meet usually on the second Thursday of the month after school from 3:15-5:00. We do a variety of hands-on mission activities such as: bake cookies for shut-ins, sew bibs or gifts for Operation Christmas Child, do random acts of kindness, and much more.
We are about building relationships, making disciples, and sharing our faith in Christ! If you like to have fun with friends, we're the group for you!
Junior and Senior High youth meet on Wednesdays at 6:15 pm during the school year. We extend our gatherings throughout the summer with fun excursions and mission-oriented activities.
There is a youth/adult mission trip planned every summer. In July, 2018, a group of 14 went to Chetek, WI, for the second year in a row to do community service and help individuals with fix-up projects. Other trips have been to Duluth, Des Moines, Sioux Falls, Memphis, Colorado Springs, and every three years a trip to Jamaica.
Mission trips are a wonderful experience! If you have any questions, contact Sandy at email@example.com.
